Introductory Note

Luis Samacumbi is Programme Specialist for Youth, Gender, and Humanitarian Issues at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Angola. Before his career with the UN, Samacumbi was the executive director of DASEP, the social development branch of the Evangelical Congregational Church of Angola (IECA). A former child soldier in the Angolan civil war, he has dedicated his life to peace-building and community reconstruction efforts.
He is also a published author in Angola, writing about his experiences and issues of faith
and development. Luis Samacumbi is a very valued field partner of AMSF and generously shares his perspective and experiential knowledge with us.
